We believe that changing the way we produce and distribute food is fundamental to solving the world’s most pressing social and ecological problems.
The market garden was started in 2022 to grow veg which is good for people and planet, using agroecological methods that support the farm ecosystem as well as growing delicious and nutritious veg.
We grow on half an acre of no-dig beds, next to a buzzing wildflower meadow and bordered by hedgerows rich with bird life. Our soil is full of wonderful worms and a diversity of microorganisms which keep the plants super healthy.
No-dig growing is a form of ecological agriculture that builds soil health and traps carbon in soils by not disturbing them. It keeps the soil structure intact, supporting the soil ecosystem and yielding healthy, nutritious plants. We never use pesticides or chemicals of any sort, we just add organic compost.
We pay our suppliers at least 50% of the retail value for any products we buy in, and when dealing with wholesalers, we check to make sure they pay fair prices to their growers.
Local food supports local economies. Food grown in the local community supports local jobs and encourages variety in our diets. It also requires less transportation, so it's fresher and has a smaller environmental footprint.
The powerful flavours and amazing vibrancy of colour of the herbs and vegetables is second to none; I got excited for the first time in years about parsley such was the quality of flavour and smell!
